The word Saputara implies the adobe of serpents. It is the only hill station of Gujarat and it is situated at a height of 873 meters above sea level on the Dang plateau in the Dang forest district of Sahyadri range. Saputara, the only hill station of Gujarat is located on the Gujarat-Maharashtra border. Saputara is a planned hill station and its been constructed as a town of hill resorts with the main attraction being Saputara Lake.
Saputara Lake is a man made artificial lake with all necessary amenities pleasantries like hotels, swimming pools, parks, theatres, boat club and a museum to ensure a delightful holiday in cool of the hill station. The main attraction is boating with a nominal entry fee in the Saputara boating club. Boating in the Saputara Lake is really a wonderful experience; Paddle boats and row are available for those who are interested. The lake is on the base of Saputara hill station and is placed perfectly on the picturesque hilly surroundings. A snake image on the bank of river Sarpagane get worshipped by some local tribal groups on some traditional festivals like Holi. Local tribal folks pay worship to this serpent god and celebrate festivals like Holi.

An enthusiast tourist to Saputara can undertake trekking in Saputara hills, nature walks around the Saputara Lake, hill climbing to Valley view point, Forest camping in the dense woods of boat Saputara hills and such many dynamic adventurous activities. The climate of Saputara being so cozy throughout the year makes it well suited destination for the tourists. It has a cool bracing climate; the atmosphere is very cool through out the seasons and the highest temperature even in the summer months not exceeding 28C.

Saputara does not have any local transport facility and you can easily cover worth watching places of Saputara on foot.
